그래미 어워드 수상에 빛나는 프랑스 국민밴드 피닉스(PHOENIX) 첫번째 내한
1999년 결성하여, 2000년 발표한 데뷔앨범 ‘United’ 로 세계적인 사랑을 받기 시작한 피닉스(PHOENIX)는 '토마스 마스(Thomas Mars, 보컬)', '로랑 브랑코위츠(Laurent Brancowitz, 기타)', '덱 다르시(Deck d'Arcy, 베이스)', '크리스티앙 마잘라이(Christian Mazzalai, 기타)'의 네 명의 멤버로 구성되어 있다. 그들은 하드록 기타와 뉴 웨이브 신디사이저를 바탕으로 한 세련된 팝과 록 사운드를 구사 하며, 에어(Air), 다프트 펑크(Daft Punk) 등과 함께 2000년대 프렌치 록의 세계화를 이끈 한편, 4집 [Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix] 는 2010년도 그래미 어워드에서 ‘최우수 얼터너티브 앨범’을 수상하며 명작의 반열에 올랐고 최근 5집 [Bankrupt!]에서는 동양 전통의 분위기와 팝적인 요소를 결합시켜 진일보 된 사운드로 완성시켰다.
전세계적으로 두터워진 팬 층과 '글래스톤베리(Glastonbury)', '코첼라(Coachella)'를 포함한 세계적인 음악 페스티벌에서의 헤드라이너 위치로서 증명 되는 피닉스(PHOENIX)는 올해 발표한 5집 앨범 수록곡 [Entertainment] 뮤직비디오를 한국 드라마를 오마주한 내용으로 제작하기도 해 엄청난 화제를 몰고 왔다. ‘피닉스’ 멤버들은 오래 전부터 한국 드라마의 엄청난 팬이며, 미디어를 통하여 K-POP의 매력, 남북의 분단 상황 등에 대한 지식이 상당한 것으로 알려져 왔다. 이번 내한은, 한국에 대한 각별한 애정으로 데뷔 10년 만에 최초 내한하게 된다.

Grammy Award winner, Phoenix’s first performance in Korea.
Phoenix formed in 1999. Their debut album ‘United’ was commercially successful and elevated the band's stature to superstars. Thomas Mars on vocals, bassist Deck d'Arcy, and guitarist Chris Mazzalai started playing together and in 1995, Laurent Brancowitz, Mazzalai's older brother, permanently joined the band on guitar. They make refined sound and rock music based on hard rock and new wave synthesizer. The band is one of the leading artist that represents France music scene as well as Daft Punk and Air. Their fourth album [Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix] won Best Alternative Music Album at the 2009 Grammy Awards on January 31, 2010. The album was the first Phoenix album to be certified gold and appeared on numerous "Best of" lists at the end of 2010. Phoenix is one of those groups for which people feel unanimous enthusiasm. Their latest album [Bankrupt!] is no exception to the rule. A real pleasure with an oriental touch.
With their worldwide fan base and fames from headlining at international music festivals such as Glastonbury and Coachella, Phoenix proved their position in music scene. With their new song [Entertainment] from the 5th album, they created a music video homage to Korean dramas. Phoenix's members are known as big Korean drama fans and have intensive knowledge about Korea from K-pop to division. With this reasons, this first concert in Korea can be very special for both Phoenix and their fans.
