MTV 선정 2013년에 주목해야 할 아티스트로 꼽힌 twenty | one | pilots !

미국 오하이오 주 출신 밴드 twenty | one | pilots 는 절친인 드러머 조쉬 던(Josh Dun)과 보컬리스트 타일러 조셉(Tyler Joseph)으로 구성된 2인조 밴드이다. 하지만 이들의 음악은 두 명이라고 믿기지 않는 꽉 찬 사운드를 가지고 있다. 화끈하게 무대 위를 뛰어다니며 속사포 랩을 선보이다가 미친 듯이 건반과 드럼을 두드린다. 때로는 스테이지 다이빙, 덤블링 쇼를 구사하다가도 발라드를 부르기도 하는 이들은 헤드라인 투어를 모두 매진시키며 음악, 퍼포먼스 등 모든 면에서 듀오 이상의 모습을 보여주며, 정규 1집 ‘베슬(VESSEL)’을 발매하며 메이저에 데뷔했다.

지난해 내한 ‘지산 밸리 록 페스티벌’과 ‘글로벌 개더링 코리아’에서 폭발적인 라이브 무대를 선보인 후 공연 관계자들에게 “올해의 보석같은 라이브 1위”라는 극찬을 받았다.

특히 글로벌 개더링 코리아에서 ‘태극기 퍼포먼스’, ‘강남스타일 리믹스’를 연주하며 용인 캐리비안 베이를 달구며 다시 한국을 찾겠다는 약속을 지킨 두 청년이다

twenty | one | pilots의 음악에는 피아노 록, 일렉트로니카, 뜻 깊은 가사, 랩, 그리고 누구도 들어본 적이 없는 노래의 다양한 장르가 복합되어 있다. 때로는 에미넴처럼 강렬한 랩을 쏟아내며 자신들의 장르를 ‘스키조이드 팝 (Schizoid POP : 정신분열 팝’) 이라고 정의를 내린다.

‘2013 twenty | one | pilots Live in Seoul’ the first concert in Korea

One of the MTV’s 2013 Artists to Watch, twenty | one | pilots!

twenty | one | pilots, a band from Ohio, U.S.A., consists of two members: Tyler Joseph (vocals and piano) and Josh Dun (drums) with unbelievably full and magnificent sound as a duo. They are known for unpredictable performance such as climbing scaffolding, jumping off of a piano and stage diving into the crowd then singing a ballad song. They have proven beyond abilities that a duo band can do in all aspects of music and performances, and with sold out headline shows and tours, their first major debut album, Vessel, just came out.

After the remarkable live performances at ‘Jisan Valley Rock Festival’ and ‘Global Gathering Korea’ last year, they received rave reviews as the best live band of the year.

At ‘Global Gathering Korea,’ they heated up the venue, Caribbean Bay, by giving special performances for Korean fans such as waving the Korean flag and playing ‘Gangnam Style remix.’ This year, they’re coming back to Korea to keep their promises with their fans to come back.

The music of twenty | one | pilots contains piano rock, electronica, meaningful lyrics, rap, and mixed genres that we’ve never listened to. With frantically fast-paced rapping like Eminem, they define their music as Schizoid POP.
